A breath as a diagnosis: Früh packaging innovation from DBI
A breath says more than a thousand words – what if it could even reveal a person’s state of health? That’s exactly what Deep Breath Intelligence (DBI) is working on: using state-of-the-art breath analysis, the Swiss company makes metabolic processes and disease progression visible – non-invasively, in real time, and in a patient-friendly way.
Respiratory metabolomics – the body’s live ticker
Every exhalation contains tiny molecules (VOCs) that allow conclusions to be drawn about an individual’s phenotype. DBI combines high-precision mass spectrometry with machine learning to obtain valuable data for diagnosis and therapy monitoring.
Together with the University Hospitals of Zurich and Basel, DBI is conducting numerous clinical studies to further validate its innovative respiratory diagnostics. In the future, clinical pictures from oncology, pneumology, and endocrinology could benefit from non-invasive diagnostics through breath analysis.
DBI is also setting new standards in neurology: the analysis of exhaled air opens up a novel approach to monitoring the individually optimal drug dose, as a joint study with the University Children’s Hospital Basel shows (Source: https://www.nature.com/articles/s43856-021 – 00021‑3)
To ensure that these highly sensitive tests function reliably not only in the laboratory but also in decentralized locations such as doctors’ offices, more than just cutting-edge technology is required: the appropriate breath collector (sealed-edge bag with mouthpiece), the correct final packaging, and complete documentation in accordance with GMP standards. Only in this way can the product reach the patient safely and return intact to the laboratory for analysis.
This is where Früh Verpackungstechnik brings its experience in printing, laminating, and bag production to bear. When it comes to final packaging, we rely on our proven expertise in contract packaging for medical and pharmaceutical products. The result: DBI products are packaged under the strictest standards — secure, compliant, and ready for use.
We are proud to support Deep Breath Intelligence — Unlocking diagnostic insights from exhaled breath and Effectum Medical, partners who are redefining precision medicine and bringing it to market. Innovation and safety go hand in hand for us: DBI provides the technology – Früh provides the packaging that makes the transition from the laboratory to the application possible.
